I have several pots of daisies. They have now been in these pots for about 3 years and are a bit neglected. What type of fertilizer should I use and how often?

You may need to refresh the soil that is in your pots. Three years with no attention is a long time and the potting mixtures that are often used don’t really have much organic matter in them. Also, many of the nutrients will probably have leached out.
I tend to use one of the granular slow release fertilizers. I usually add a small amount (about a teaspoon) to my pots every few months. But, I would look at replenishing the potting mixture currently in your pots.
