I have a grevillea that has become very straggly and I am thinking that it might benefit from a good prune. But, I have heard that some of these Australian natives are best left to grow naturally. Anyone have any thoughts about this or any experience? I think the variety is a Golden Gem.

Hi Lynn
Absolutely prune your grevillea. They respond very well to being pruned. In fact, if you don’t they will often become quite “straggly” as you have mentioned and very susceptible to breaking. Pruning can actually make them more resilient, a bit more bushy and even shape them a bit.
