This probably seems like a silly question, but how do you know when a lemon is ripe?

No question is silly; only silly if it doesn’t get asked 😀 Its actually a good question!
I would recommend looking for 3 things – the lemon should be yellow with almost no tinges of green. It should also not be hard – it should ‘give’ a little when squeezed. If it is really spongy, it is probably over ripe. Lastly, the texture of the skin on some varieties will be smooth rather than lumpy. This last one doesn’t apply to all varieties, so the first 2 are probably the most important.
Hope this helps 😀
