I would really like to know what people think are the absolute "must have" vegetables in the garden. I guess this will depend on what part of the world you live in, but still keen to know - perhaps you can also say where you are from.

Here at Wommin Bay we have just started finding out what will grow well in a hot, sometimes dry, sometimes humid, wind from the ocean climate. Tomatoes like Romas - nope. However beetroot, rainbow chard, and picking greens a definite yes! We are beginning to supply food weekly to the kitchen for all the Residents to enjoy.

I always like to have growing in my garden:

  • spinach
  • kale
  • basil
  • peas or beans
  • tomatoes

There are many others that I also try to have growing, the the above are always there. I am lucky with the climate. I live in Brisbane in South East Queensland, Australia where the climate is sub-tropical.
