  • Graeme Jones replied to a discussion, Tumeric
Hi Sandi. I have grown turmeric directly from the rhizomes that I bought directly from a local green grocer. So my experience is - yes, you can. However, I have heard that some growers treat them to prevent growth occurring while in the store. Therefore, I would recommend getting your turmeric rhizomes from a quality organic grower or health food shop. Good luck :)

What are everyone's favourite vegetables to grow organically?

Tomatoes we are not growing as they a white powdery mould attacks them every time no matter what we do - however we have not tried any of the more hardy cherry tomatoes. You know the kind that grows where you least expect it from self seeding. These may fare better so we'll give them a try!  More ...

  • I would really like to know what people think are the absolute "must have" vegetables in the garden. I guess this will depend on what part of the world you live in, but still keen to know - perhaps you can also say where you are from.

What about bouganvillea? They come in a large range of different colours and I think there are now some varieties that don't have the spikes.
